Schoolyard & Children’s Clubhouse renovation and equipment in Mazra’a

After- School Club following renovation

Mazra’a is a primarily Moslem village located south of Nahariya in the Western Galilee.  The project, implemented through Galila, focused on the local elementary school complex, incorporating the nursery schools and an afternoon clubhouse for children at risk. It included renovation of the schoolyard, turning it into a sports court for the daily benefit of over 500 children, installation of toddlers’ outdoor playground equipment and renovation of and equipment for the after-school clubhouse for children at risk Following the Foundation’s contribution, the National Lottery funded the covering of the entire schoolyard with steel framing so as to provide shade during the long, hot summers.

The project was dedicated by the Chairman and Trustees of the Clore Israel Foundation in May 2008 in the presence of Mr. Kassam Ouwad, Head of the Mazra’a Council. It has answered the needs of the village by physically upgrading the dilapidated schoolyard and enhancing the feelings of achievement and potential among the younger population in Mazra’a. Some 500 children, ages 3-12 years, and their families benefit from the upgraded complex.
