Ya’ara, on the border of Lebanon, has a mixed Jewish and Bedouin population.  The project, implemented through Galila in 2010/11, provided for the transformation of a run-down building into a children and youth centre.

The interior of this formerly dilapidated building has been completely remodeled, and furnished with bright, modern, furniture. The grounds outside the centre have been developed, and outdoor physical fitness equipment has been installed. The municipality has paved the platform overlooking the lawn with ceramic tiles. This is now an inviting, attractive facility, in the centre of the community, allowing for outdoor events and ceremonies as well as indoor activities. The village committee has taken responsibility for operation, and the centre is utilized all day, providing children’s extra-curricular activities in the afternoon. The evening hours are for the youth, and the centre is used in the mornings for activities for seniors.
